Biography

Dr. Oussama obtained his MD degree from Liege University, Belgium, in 1984. He then went on to pursue a Fellowship in Orthopedic at Liege University Hospital with a subspecialty in joint replacement, which he completed in 1990 with a degree of “High Excellency.” He also obtained a Diploma in Biomechanics from ULB University of Brussels and has been awarded the best scientific research by the “Lejeune et Lechien” foundation of Liege University. For 24 years, he had a highly successful career as a Senior Consultant in Belgium with intensive clinical activities and worked as a visitor surgeon in the middle east. He became one of the pioneers in his field and developed his department of joint replacement with more than 500 knees and hip replacement surgery a year. In 2014, Dr. Oussama moved to the UAE, where he practiced at a key government hospital in Abu Dhabi before moving to a private hospital and then to Burjeel hospital as a Consultant and Head of the Orthopedic Department. Dr. Oussama has more than 30 years of experience in his field, successfully achieving more than ten thousand knees and hip joint replacement surgeries. He is an author of many publications, a co-inventor of knee prostheses, and has done various research studies in different European institutes. He is an expert in complex primary joint replacement, hip and knee revision, complex pelvic fracture, and bone tumor surgery. He has operated on many international patients from the Middle East, South Africa, and Australia. He has long experience in total hip replacement for congenital hip dislocation and has developed his technic without femoral shortening osteotomy. He uses the most updated minimally invasive procedure and is familiar with navigation and robotic surgery for joint replacement. He has applied his fast track technique in the knee and hip replacement since 2017 with minimal postop pain and quick recovery without needing physiotherapy. Dr. Oussama is a Speaker and Member of the Scientific Committee, organizing the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) orthopedic conference every year. He is a Member of the Belgium Orthopedic Association (SOBCOT), the French Orthopedic Society (SOFCOT) as well as Member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS). He is continually active in the medical community and participates as a speaker and attendee in major scientific events in Europe and North America.
