Biography

Dr. Matlik earned his Bachelor’s Degree in 1981 (MBChB) from Mosul University in Iraq. In 1993, he earned a Diploma in Child Health from the Arab Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Matlik received his CABP from the Arab Board of Pediatrics in 1994. In 2003, he was elected to the Royal College of Pediatric and Child Health in the United Kingdom. Dr. Matlik was a 2015 Fellow of the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health in the United Kingdom. He also holds a Certificate in General Pediatrics Training (2011) and achieved the European Training Advisory Board in Pediatric Neurology. He is a Member of the British Pediatric Neurology Association (UK). Additionally, Dr. Matlik is a PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) provider. Dr. Matlik began his career in his native Iraq. He joined the Maternity and Children’s Hospital in 1994 as a Pediatric Specialist after completing his residency and internship. He was also a Lecturer at Baghdad University’s Kindy Medical College. Dr. Matlik relocated to the United Arab Emirates in 2000 and began working as a Pediatric Specialist at a private hospital in Abu Dhabi. He began his career in 2005 as a Pediatric Specialist at a government hospital in Abu Dhabi before assuming the role of Pediatric Neurologist in a consultant capacity in 2007. Dr. Matlik has over two decades of experience in his field, which includes EEG reporting, epilepsy management, spasticity management, headache and migraine management, dyslexia, speech delay, autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, and special needs children, as well as hydrocephalus and craniosynostosis (small head). He has authored numerous articles that have been published in prestigious international journals.
